People with cameras.

Whether you’re planning a commercial shoot, documentary, student production, photography session or digital content project, Denver’s film permitting resources now have a new home.

Public Event & Film Permitting (PEFP) has launched an updated Film and Photography website and a new printable Film Permitting Guide designed to make it easier for productions to plan and navigate filming in Denver.

The updated resources compile existing film permitting information, operational guidance, timelines and coordination requirements into a more centralized and user-friendly format. The goal is to help productions spend less time searching for information and more time planning their projects.

Start with the Website

PEFP encourages productions to start with the Film and Photography website as the primary planning tool.

The website:

  • provides the most up-to-date information
  • centralizes permitting tools and resources
  • includes direct links to applications and supporting materials
  • can be translated using the language option at the top of the page

To support productions working in the field or planning offline, PEFP also created a printable Film Permitting Guide featuring the same content available on the website. The printable guide is intended to serve as a supplemental field and reference tool for applicants who prefer a downloadable version.

What You’ll Find

The updated resources are designed to help productions better understand permitting requirements, coordination needs and planning considerations before filming begins.

Topics include:

  • when a Film Operational Permit (FOP) may be required
  • filming requirements for parks, public right-of-way and private property
  • permit timelines and required materials
  • community notifications
  • traffic, parking, drone and operational coordination
  • additional permitting considerations that may apply to productions filming in Denver
