Head of School Message

Dear FA Families,

A highlight for me in a final week of a school year filled with countless highlights was the student keynote talks during the respective Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, and Eighth Grade Closing Ceremonies.

Please find below the text from those three talks. I hope you will take the opportunity to read why FA is so special to Jordan, Eliza, and IslaMae.

Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable summer.

Respectfully,

Scott L. Hutchinson
Head of School
2021-2022 School Calendar
Click on the button above to access an updated version of the 2021-2022 At-A-Glance School Calendar.

We have added all of the events that include early dismissal days. We also moved the Baccalaureate ceremony for the Class of 2022 to Thursday, May 12, 2022, to better avoid potential conflicts.
2021-2022 Summer Learning
We posted our divisional summer reading lists and other summer learning assignments on the school's website today.

Frederica Academy believes in the value of reading as a lifelong pursuit both as an end in itself and as a means to an end. Whether one is very young or very old, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding is a journey that never ends and never grows stale for the curious; and reading... both fiction and nonfiction... is one of the primary lights that shine on the pathway of that  journey.

Please use the buttons below to email the appropriate Division Director should you have questions.
2021-2022 Chromebooks
As a reminder, you had an opportunity to order Chromebooks during the 2021-2022 re-enrollment/enrollment process. If you opted not to order one when re-enrolling and have since changed your mind, please click below to access the Chromebook order form for students in Grades 5-12 who want to place a summer order.

Forms are due by June 30, and new Chromebooks will be issued the first week of school. Student accounts will be billed in September for the order. Please scan and email the order forms to Dan Redanz.
2021-2022 PPE Forms
All 2021-2022 Middle School and Upper School students must have a Pre-participation Physical Evaluation (PPE) before participating in summer athletics, if applicable, or before the school year begins. This is required due to the rigorous activity expected by our physical education, athletic, and field trip programs.

Please email Adam Norman, FA's Athletic Trainer, should you have questions.
FA Campus Summer Hours
The Frederica Academy Front Office will be open Monday-Friday throughout the summer between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with the exception of Friday, July 2, and Monday, July 5, in observance of the July 4th holiday.
Thank You!
Thank you to our friends at the Community Church (St. Simons campus) and St. Simons Presbyterian Church.

Mark Fritchman, Interim Senior Pastor at the Community Church, and his dedicated and talented team graciously hosted our Baccalaureate Service earlier this month.

This week, Alan Dyer, St. Simons Presbyterian Church Pastor, and his staff kindly hosted our Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, and Eighth Grade Closing Ceremonies in their beautifully-renovated sanctuary.

FA 2021 HOF Ambassadors
The Glynn County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors has announced their 2021 student-athlete ambassadors from Brunswick High, Glynn Academy and Frederica Academy. Each school has eight ambassadors, with two of them — a girl and boy— from each school receiving a scholarship.

Frederica Academy's ambassadors include Rebekah Brooks, Eli Fritchman, Ben Carroll, Josh Meadows, Cate Seymour, Garrett Squire, Virginia Anne Tennant, and Rebecca Tiller.

Rebekah and Eli are this year's scholarship recipients.

This graduating class marks the eighth consecutive group The Hall of Fame has recognized since starting the program in 2014. Hall of Fame President Kevin Price and the board of directors work in conjunction with the three local high schools to identify senior athletes who have excelled both academically and athletically. Since their inception in 2014, 175 student-athletes have been honored. In 2015, scholarships were added to the program, which has awarded close to $22,000 to 30 student-athletes.
The News' Coastal Georgia

FA Faculty + Staff Honored
On Thursday, May 27, Frederica Academy faculty and staff gathered for a ceremony to honor colleagues who are retiring or will not be returning in August. The ceremony culminated in a standing ovation when Sandi Channell recognized Catherine Holt for her extraordinary contributions to Frederica Academy during the past sixteen years. Lower School students created a beautiful piece of artwork in recognition of their gratitude to Mrs. Holt.
Departing full-time faculty members who were honored during the ceremony included: Helen Adams, Dani DiCenzo, Sheri Graham, Lindsay Hill, Robb Hofstra, and Phoebe Rolland.

Please join us in expressing our appreciation to all of these outstanding educators as we wish them well in their new adventures.
Knights Table Survey
The Knights Table Team expresses its appreciation to everyone who took the time to respond to the Knights Table Survey. Please know that we heard you, and we really appreciate your feedback.

Here are some of our takeaways from the Survey:

  • Bring in more outside vendors - we will be taking a look at this and stay tuned for new and exciting options on the menu next year.

  • Revamp Taco Tuesday - we are excited to bring more creativity into this day.

  • Make sure foods are fresh and served hot - new equipment and better line service practices will help to address this.

Covid willing, we plan to bring back the Salad Bar, which should create a lot of nice options in all of the food categories. We also will be reviewing all of our pricing to make sure everything is fair and reasonable for all.

Enjoy your summer, and we look forward to serving you when school is back in session.

Thank you.

Fourth Grade Colonial Day Festival
Fourth Grade celebrated the culmination of its archaeology and Revolutionary War units with an all hands on Colonial Day Festival on Monday. To kick off the day, the children listened to talks by an outfitted Scottish Highlander from Darien and a pharmacist describing colonial medicine. The students churned butter, ate hardtack soaked in barley tea, made orange and clove pomanders, made their own candles, created mob caps and neckerchiefs ... and the list goes on with so many other interesting lessons. All of this was organized by Jenn Hagfors and other wonderful Fourth Grade parents. Many thanks to our fabulous parents and students. Happy Summer!
