Critter Chronicles
Greetings!

On behalf of the entire GMHS team, thank you to all of the individuals, families, and businesses who have donated to the Phantom of the Shelter Matching Gift Challenge. Each gift has an impact and helps to save lives!

Through January 31, 2022, we hope to raise $100,000 in monetary donations to unlock the life-saving power of challenge. We are grateful beyond measure to the anonymous donor who has offered this matching gift and incredibly excited for the resources and opportunities the funds raised will bring to our organization and the pets in our care.

With GMHS' intake doubled from the previous year and no signs of abating, homeless pets are counting on us. Your support ensures GMHS continues to meet this demand.

Whether you are planning your end-of-year giving or planning ahead for 2022, I invite you to join me in contributing to this challenge. Each gift has life-saving powers, and 92 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to providing shelter and care for our homeless pets.

Donations may be made via PayPal, phone (804-693-5520), and mail (P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061).

We hope this matching gift will inspire those with a heart for homeless pets to give, knowing their contribution will be doubled. Countless lives continue to be saved and transformed, because of your friendship and support. Thank you for making it so!

With heartfelt appreciation,
April Martinez

December 2021 Heart Connections

December was a great month for adoptions, with 42 pets finding their forever homes! Also, 75 pets were transferred to adoption-guaranteed partners through our Highway to Home program. Thank you to everyone for making December such an amazing month for the people and pets of the communities we serve and helping us end the year on a high note!

Adoptions continue to be conducted by appointment only and with an approved adoption questionnaire. Visit GMHS on the web to view all the homeless pets searching for a forever family and submit your adoption questionnaire electronically. Once approved, a member of our Adoption Team will schedule a time for you to make your very own heart connection!

Fixin' to Save Has
Record-breaking Year

2021 has been the busiest year yet for GMHS' Fixin' to Save Spay & Neuter Clinic since opening in 2008. The clinic altered 3,882 pets in 2021! These animals include GMHS/GCAC pets and pets from members of our community, other local shelters and rescues, and community cats. We are grateful for an amazing 2021 and look forward to continuing to offer access to low- and no-cost spay/neuter surgeries in 2022!

Call (804) 694-0349 to inquire about services and make your pet’s appointment. Stay in touch with the clinic team by visiting them on the web and Facebook.

Highway to Home Sees Growth and Success in 2021

GMHS is thrilled to share 1,111 pets were transferred to adoption-guaranteed partners through Highway to Home in 2021.

When a pet from GMHS goes to one of our trusted partners, they average less than one week in the new shelter before being adopted. We work with our partners to help place homeless pets in areas where adoption demands are high and rescues have space. Thank you to all of our GMHS staff and volunteers for making this incredible year possible, and we look forward to saving and transforming even more lives in 2022!
We're Growing Our Team!
