Final Exam Study Tips & BUGS Final Exam Sessions

Who better to share some final exam tips with us than BUGS Study Skills Tutor, Lola Hamilton '26? Lola will be graduating in May and is coming up on her 8th, and final, exam period. Let's see what Lola's top three tips are:

  1. Break the assignment up! Avoid cramming by reviewing one lecture/chapter every day until it's time for your exam. Writing a paper? Spend an hour brainstorming and creating an outline. Break up a big paper by writing a section/page/paragraph every day until it's due!

  2. Take a break! Make sure you're not studying while hungry or tired! Breaks are a vital way to let your brain reset and perform even better when you come back to an assignment.

  3. Reward yourself! Make sure you're giving yourself credit for finishing the semester strong! Take a dance break after finishing a hard assignment or call a friend you haven't talked to in a while.

Many BUGS tutors will continue to hold appointments during the finals period! For specific questions or to view their availability, please see the BUGS tutor for your course.

The following tutors will hold additional drop-in hours for support (no appointment needed):

  • Chemistry 25 with tutor Ryan Biswal: Thursday, April 30 from 5-7 pm in Abelson 131
  • Math 5a, 10a, 10b with tutor Precious Opoku-Kissi: Friday, May 1 from 12-2 pm and Monday, May 4 12-2 pm in Farber Mezzanine.

We review this data every year to inform our practices moving forward, and every submission gives us a clearer picture of your needs as students. Participants will be entered into a raffle for campus bookstore gift cards.

Academic Fellowships at Brandeis

The primary goal of Academic Fellowships at Brandeis is to support students’ academic growth and development. The process of applying for a competitive fellowship or research opportunity can help you clarify your goals and set in motion a plan to achieve them. If you are thinking about applying for a fellowship in the future, or just want to learn more about what opportunities are available, you are invited to sign up for our weekly newsletter, where we share information about particular fellowship opportunities, application tips, deadline reminders, and more (you can see an excerpt below). To opt into this list, please email fellowships@brandeis.edu.

Thinking of applying for a Rhodes or Marshall Scholarship?

Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships are post-undergraduate awards that provide funding for Americans to pursue graduate degrees in the UK. Applications are due very early in the fall semester, and all applicants must earn the university endorsement before proceeding to the national competition, so current juniors and seniors interested in applying in Fall 2026 should start thinking about these opportunities NOW! You can learn more about these and other fellowship opportunities here, or schedule an appointment with Meredith Monaghan by emailing fellowships@brandeis.edu, either to talk about a specific fellowship application or to explore which opportunities might be a good match for you.

Study Abroad Now Offering

Passport Photo Services

The Office of Study Abroad is now offering passport photo services at no cost to undergraduate students applying to study abroad or students considering study abroad in the future. We hope that this service will help to ease the burden of securing passport photos for students applying for their first passport, renewing their passport, or applying for a student visa to study abroad.

To request photos, students should submit this form based on the size and purpose of the photo they are requesting. We are available to consult with students who need assistance filling out the form. Photos will be available for pickup on the next following Friday after students submit the form. If students need assistance taking their photo instead of uploading it to the form, we are happy to assist with that as well.
