Re-Registration for Rising 1st – 5th Grade Students
Atlanta Public Schools in the process of updating student records and re-registering students for the 2023-2024 school year. For returning students rising into Grades 1-5, all you need to do is to verify that your information is up to date. Please visit HERE for full details.

Georgia Milestones Testing - Thorugh May 12
Georgia Milestones testing will take place from Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 12th. Testing is divided by grade levels (3rd and 5th the first week, and 4th the second week). Please visit the Milestones information page on the MES website for details HERE.

Friday, May 5th - Final MES Spirit Day
Wear your MES colors loud and proud for the final Spirit Day of the school year! Fingers crossed for an appearance by Big Blue the Dolphin during morning drop-off!

Saturday, May 6 - End of the Year Second Grade Social
Current second grade families, please join your classmates for popsicles in the park on Saturday, May 6th to celebrate the successful end of another school year. All family members are welcome!

Friday, May 12 - SWAG Parents Campus Clean Up and Coffee [NEW DATE!]
Have coffee, clean up and chat at our parent clean up! Meet up after school drop off in the morning on Friday, May 12th and help clean our playgrounds with other parents. If it’s raining or muddy we will reschedule. If we work together, it should only take a quick 30 to 40 minutes for this clean up. If you're joining us, please be sure to check in at the office first.
Can’t come to this one but still want to help? There will be one FINAL SWAG Campus Clean Up on Friday, May 19th after school for both parents and kids!

Tuesday, May 16 - Parent to Parent Panel on Transitioning to Middle School
When: Tuesday, May 16 from 9:00-10:00 AM
Where: Morningside Elementary Cafeteria - 774 Virginia Ave NE
Please check in at the Main Office
Join us for an insightful discussion on what to expect from the middle school years. A panel of current David T. Howard Middle School parents will share their experiences related to:
- Navigating changes in your child’s routine, academic ownership, and social circles
- How to stay engaged with your child’s experience while respecting their growing independence
- Helpful resources for middle school parents and students
This is a parent-led event and is open to all rising 6th grade parents in the Midtown cluster. If you have specific questions for the panel, please submit using this form by May 14th and we will do our best to incorporate them into the discussion. We hope to see you there!

Absence notes should be emailed as an attachment directly to [email protected] within three (3) days of the absence! Parents, please make sure that this step is taken in order for the front office to properly code a student absence!

APS Board of Education Meeting - Monday, May 8
The APS Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, May 8th from 5:30-8:00pm for Student Recognition. All meetings are held at the Atlanta Public Schools Center for Learning and Leadership Auditorium and are typically livestreamed via the APS Board of Education Facebook Page. Interested parties are welcome to provide comments during the Community Meeting portion (which begins at 6:00pm) by signing up in person from 5:00-5:50pm.

Register for the O4W5K Run to Benefit Hope-Hill Elementary School!
Come out and enjoy an in-person or virtual 5K on Saturday, May 13th in the Historic Old Fourth Ward to benefit one of our neighboring Midtown Cluster elementary schools! The seventh annual O4W5K race (an official AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifying event) will be a fun day that benefits Hope-Hill Elementary School.
