Shooters...
Even with the rain on Saturday, I have to say...another great weekend, and another great season at Scarborough Fish & Game. With lots of high scores and lots of smiling faces, it was an awesome way to finish off the 2022 sporting clays season.
NOTE
We are going to try to keep the course open for another week, if the weather allows, so come on back Wednesday form 10am-3pm or Sunday from 10am-2pm, and enjoy the targets one more time.
RESULTS
Frozen Five #2 was a very friendly course. We had a new name at the top, with Felipe Garcia shooting 98 to win. He was followed closely by Earle Glidden with a 97. Congratulations to both. The 2.5 event was a little more tricky, but Kevin Kennedy shot an impressive 99...great shooting Kevin. Chris Schwarzer was runner up with a 96...congratulations Chris.
THANK YOU
Thank you to Greg and Sharon Berry for working so hard to provide food at all our events...they always do a great job. Thanks to Lisa and Bill for registration and scoring. This is often an overlooked job, but all of us that compete know how critical this job is. They do a great job every time - with tons of score cards. Many of you have noticed the grounds look better each time you return. Well, we have Bill Scarborough to thank for that. Two years ago, Bill took on the grounds keeping and it has become an obsession for him. He is there every week mowing, trimming, and cleaning the course trying each week to make it look better than the week before. Big thanks to Jim Clemons. Jim is at the club almost every day, doing everything from helping to set courses to plowing snow. If you like the way our events run, Jim deserves much of the credit. We have several people that go above and beyond to help keep improving our program. Tom Fenderson, Steve and Pam Rich and Bernie Raimo, all work tirelessly...doing anything that needs to be done to keep improving. Thank you to our entire Sporting Clays committee - thank you for opening/running the course on our non tournament days and helping keep things filled and running during our registered shoots. There are too many to name, but they are the best in the sport. All of these folks are volunteers. They do all this work for the love of shooting sports and pride in our club. Most of all we want to thank you, the shooters. You come out in the cold, the heat, the rain, to constantly support our club. We couldn’t do any of this without you.
Every year, we like to close out the season by remembering our founder, our leader, and our friend, George Pelletier. George left us in 2013 so many of you newer shooters didn’t get the honor of knowing him. In 2004, George took a group of friends and a handful of traps and started a 5-stand. His passion and leadership set us on the path to where we are today. It’s safe to say that without George, none of this would have been possible. We're pretty sure George would be proud of how "his" discipline has grown.
Thank you all for another great year and as always, you have our promise that we will never stop trying to make Scarborough Fish & Game sporting clays better.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays - see you in 2023!
