Tax Day is quickly approaching and with that, the final push to get taxes in order. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is available to offer help with these tax preparations.

This is the last chance to take advantage of the program, which offers free tax preparation to low- to moderate-income community members. Volunteers with the program are IRS-certified and standing by, ready to help. Last year, the VITA program filed more than 2,177 tax returns.

The VITA program exists as one of United Way’s Financial Stability Programs and is utilized by many households in the area. The VITA program is IRS-funded and appointments have been available since January. By calling 2-1-1, a household can receive more information about the VITA program, as well as make an appointment for free tax preparation.

In addition to calling 2-1-1 to set up an appointment, you can call (352) 332-4636, text your zip code to 898211, or schedule your appointment online . Tax Day is on April 15, 2019 so make sure to call now to make your appointment and get your taxes done.
