Friends,
The end of the year is always a time for reflection on what has transpired, and to be thoughtful about what is to come. My year has consisted of learning about this incredible organization, and the past 50 years of people and work who have made KLT what it is today. I am so energized for the year to come and what we can accomplish!
I am so grateful for the members and community that support our conservation work and programs all year long. We have a network of over 1,000 members, givers, board members and committee volunteers, are fortunate to have awesome local partners like Kennebunk Free Library, Go Kennebunk's Chamber of Commerce, Wells Reserve at Laudholm, Kennebunkport Conservation Trust and Arundel Conservation Trust, the Town of Kennebunk, Planeteers of Southern Maine, and many more!
| |
|
KLT is proud to have support from groups such as the Sewall Foundation, Kennebunk Savings Bank, HM Payson, the Mrs. James Sage Coburn Fund, Corning Foundation, and many other generous donors. Our work would not be possible without this support and we have much gratitude for your dedication to land protection and stewardship.
This is our final newsletter for 2022. Thank you to everyone in the KLT community for a wonderful year. Let's all make 2023 resolutions for more trail walks, nature exploration, and outdoor fun!
Be well,
Sandy Gilbreath
Executive Director

The Town of Kennebunk's Tree Committee advises to not use the Asiatic bittersweet plant in holiday decorating. The plant grows a vine that wraps around existing plants and is an "extremely aggressive and damaging invader of both wild areas and maintained landscapes (see link to article.)"
In short, berries from the bittersweet plant found in decorations can release seeds into the wild, propagating this vine which results in killing existing plants. If you haven't been to our Oxbow Preserve, check out the vines and the damage that can result from this very-hard-to-manage vine.

For 50 years and counting,
Kennebunk Land Trust has provided a way to permanently protect and conserve the land that we need and love, ensuring that it will be there for today and tomorrow.

Hello Sarah,
Kennebunk Land Trust has hit a milestone - we are rounding out our 50th year! This is a special achievement that reflects years of community support. Thank you for getting us here!
| |
|
Your support is incredibly important to achieving our mission. Thank you for you commitment to protecting our natural world — water, wildlife and open space — for all people, forever.
But we can't do it alone.
As our 50th year comes to a close, we want to ask you, “Would you make a gift above and beyond your regular annual donation?” This year-end opportunity to support us comes at a crucial time as we are poised to grow and continue protecting the land and water.
| |
|
|
When we conserve land, not only are we permanently protecting it for today and for future generations, we are also saving critical habitats for plants and animals, making progress to address climate change, and providing greater access to clean water, fresh air, nutritious food, and natural areas.
Your donation celebrates KLT’s history and solidifies your role in trailblazing through the next 50 years!
Thank you for your continued support,
Kennebunk Land Trust
| |
|
As we close out our 50th anniversary celebrations, we want to thank everyone for a wonderful year!
Happy holidays to this community who supports us all year long.
Warm wishes for the new year!
