HAS' Final Tips for Finals Week

HAS Winter Break Hours & Upcoming Key Dates


As fall quarter comes to an end, we are here to support you and welcome you to connect with us if there's a way we can support you. We will be operating usual up until the middle of Winter break. Beginning December 20th, we will be operating virtually until January 2nd. Here are our center's updated service hours for the upcoming Winter break:


December 23rd to January 2nd,

  • Our office will be working remotely. You can make virtual appointments to meet with an advisor and contact us via email at has-center@uw.edu if you have questions over the break.
  • Our Drop-in advising sessions will be on a hiatus until the first day of Winter quarter, January 6th.

Upcoming Student Opportunities

The Institute of Reading Development Summer Job


The Institute of Reading Development is hiring summer teachers to lead summer reading enrichment programs, designed to foster a love of reading while building critical reading skills in students of all ages. This is a great opportunity to do challenging and meaningful work in a supportive environment. Teaching experience and/or certification are not required.

Funding Opportunities



The Bonderman Fellowship provides $26,000 for international travel to recently graduated undergraduate students. Travel must include at least six countries over the span of eight months. Apply by January 16, 2025.


The Beinecke Scholarship provides $35,000 for graduate school study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Applicants must have junior standing and a history of receiving needs-based aid. Apply by January 31, 2025.

Multilingual Translators

Portraits of Humanities


Portraits of Humanity (PoH) is a student-run project at UW that pairs students with individuals living with chronic illnesses to share their stories. PoH is seeking multilingual speakers to assist in translating narratives to make our stories more accessible to diverse communities.


Interested students should email PoH with their name, pronouns, languages they can speak, and time commitment.

Resource Corner: Wellness @ UW

Being a student is a challenging task and the experience has many peaks and valleys. Taking time to reflect and take care of your wellbeing is time well spent. As we rapidly approach the end of quarter, looking after your wellbeing will enhance your experience at UW. Here are some places you can go to as a UW students to do so:


  • Let's Talk - a program that connects UW students both virtually and in-person with support from experienced mental health counselors from the Counseling Center without an appointment. 
  • If you are in crisis and need to talk to someone, use Husky HelpLine to access to same-day, confidential mental health and crisis intervention support, 24/7 and in multiple languages.
  • Paws 4 a break - involves therapeutic interactions with trained animals. It helps improve emotional, mental, and physical well-being by providing comfort, reducing stress, and promoting a sense of joy.
