We are saddened to share that our super dynamic, friendly office staff member, Ace has accepted a position for another organization. We appreciate how Ace's positivity influenced our school culture, as well as their tenacious approach to GSA club and everything they took on! They will be greatly missed by both students & staff!

A Goodbye Message from Ace:

Hello Academy parents.

I am Terra Acevedo, aka Ace, and I have had the honor of serving you and the Academy's incredible students as a member of the office staff. In my time at the Academy, I have seen your students blossom and flourish both in their educational goals and their personal identities. I have been there during emotional times as support to listen, encourage and celebrate success.

As an advisor of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, Theatre Club, and Film and Production Club, I have been blown away by the open-mindedness, passion, and wisdom that your students have demonstrated while advocating for their peers, creatively problem-solving, and mediating conflict. In many ways, your students have positively influenced me towards growth as I hope to have positively influenced them.
I would be remiss to not acknowledge that there is a cost to growth. Growing pains. And I am no exception.

I have an opportunity to advance my educational and professional goals towards the field I want to work in. It is time for me to leave my unique and colorful Academy nest to pursue my passion. My last day working at the Academy will be Friday, January 24th.

For every person that I have had the pleasure of sharing a conversation or a laugh with; thank you. For your questions, phone calls and patience; thank you. For your holiday cards and your goodbye waves from the car at after school dismissal; thank you.
The Academy is the most special place I have been fortunate enough to work at. I know that your students will be well taken care of.

I now leave you with an '80s classic:
"Don't you forget about me."
We are hiring!

APPLICATION WINDOW IS NOW OPEN FOR 2020-2021!

Help spread the word about the Academy this admission season!

The Academy is now accepting lottery applications for students going into 9th through 12th grade for next year. If you are a current Academy family, this is a  great time to  submit an application  for a sibling going into high school next year.

Most people hear about the Academy through word-of-mouth. To help continue our growth, this is a great time to encourage  friends, neighbors, and family members to submit an application. In addition to the organic conversations you have with family and friends, would you be willing to do some intentional marketing for our school? This might include:

  • keeping materials with you to pass out to family, friends, middle school acquaintances (materials are available by request)
  • introduce Mrs. Laura to possible community partners or family members!
  • inviting friends to join you on a school tour (click here for dates)
  • posting our events on your social media pages (AcademyLBHS)
  • hosting an in-home "What's the Academy?" event (your friends, Academy staff presents; Spanish translation included!)

Your support would not only be helpful for families searching for a good fit for high school, but it also helps us to increase the Academy's exposure throughout Long Beach and surrounding communities.

Thank you so much for considering! If interested, please email  Laura Cipperly to let us know you're willing to help!
