March Governing Board Update

Greetings in the midst of this season of Lent. We hope that you are having a meaningful season of prayer, contemplation, and giving up or taking on practices that are meaningful to you.

The MCC Governing Board met on 3rd March 2026.

Additionally:

Discussed the MCC and the Future small group discussions that will be held after Easter and the process for MCC clergy and members to sign up for those sessions. Also discussed having one Governing Board member and one member of the Council of Elders sign up for each session.
Discussed the Easter fundraising appeal.
Reviewed the Senior Leadership Team’s 2026 goals.
Reviewed Governors assignments for making videos to thank individual churches for their generosity.
Discussed who among the Governing Board would be willing to meet quarterly with the Moderator to review systemic antiracism efforts and actions and record them in the Strategic Plan.
Received official notification that upRising MCC held a vote regarding disaffiliating from MCC on 1 Feb 2026; the resolution passed 72-10 (88%) in favor of disaffiliation.

Your Governing Board joins the Council of Elders in lamenting the war in Iran and spreading through the Middle East. We appreciate the words of Elder Velma Garcia reminding us that “War is not the answer. The answer is the long, steady work of justice, compassion, and the fierce tenderness that refuses to let go of our shared humanity. A’ho!” We join all who are working and praying for peace.
