PWA Financial Support Program News:

April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026 Guide Lines.

Living with HIV/AIDS can bring unexpected financial challenges. The PWA Financial Assistance Program is here to help community members ease some of those burdens and support your health and well-being. We want to make sure that our limited resources are shared fairly. That’s why we’ve updated these guidelines based on feedback from over 250 community members. To help us continue this support, please make sure your requests follow the guidelines outlined here.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Only requests that meet these guidelines will be considered.
  • These guidelines may change based on available funding.
  • To access financial assistance, you must be a registered community member with PWA.

Volunteer of the Month

Walter Sernaqué Camacho

We are thrilled to recognize Walter Sernaqué Camacho as our Volunteer of the Month!

Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Walter has been an integral part of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA) since September 2024. With a bachelor’s degree in education and a wealth of experience, he brings both hard and soft skills to his volunteer work, making a profound impact on our community.

At PWA, Walter wears many hats—sometimes quite literally! Whether assisting with intake, immigration procedures, or casework, his dedication ensures that members receive the support and advocacy they need. As a talented hairdresser, Walter also offers haircuts when needed, helping members feel their best inside and out.

Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Walter breaks language barriers and provides compassionate service to a diverse range of members. His passion, generosity, and kindness shine through in everything he does.

Walter, we are so grateful for your commitment, warmth, and unwavering support of the PWA community. Thank you for all that you do!

Congratulations, Walter! 🎉
