College Awarded a Grant to Develop an NHPI Equity Scorecard

In alignment with the strategic plan, the college has designed a participatory, mixed methods action research project title Equity-minded Data Disaggregation: Creating, Implementing, and Improving NHPI Student Outcomes with an Equity Scorecard. This project will create a transparent Equity Scorecard that will be implemented to substantively amplify consciousness of, accountability for, and a reduction of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander student equity gaps. This 15-month project is being funded by APIA Scholars as part of their Data Voyager Project. The project will be engaging the college’s 14-member Strategic Plan Steering Committee and our broader employee and student population to examine disaggregated data through an equity lens for the purposes of informing actionable interventions to improve. Engagement will be fostered by the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and particularly via a subgroup of five members who will serve as the project’s core inquiry team. In 2021-2023 the college participated in another NHPI data project funded by APIA Scholars, Scheduling for Success. The results of which informed scheduling improvements to better meet part-time student needs and preferences. That work is briefly highlighted in Native Hawaiians & Pacific Islanders in Higher Education: A Collection of Campus Research to Inform Student Success.
