Proclaim that Every Life is Worth Living!

Roe v. Wade may be in the past, but January is still a time when we proclaim that every life is worth living!

We have five Life Marches across the state kicking off in Lake Charles NEXT WEEK and ending in Pineville/Alexandria on February 1st. If you have not already, find your march below and download our promotional materials to share with your friends and family. The marches are great events for everyone, including both kids and adults!

• Life March Southwest (Lake Charles): Wed, Jan. 22nd
• Life March South (Baton Rouge): Sat., Jan. 25th (with Alveda King)
• Life March Northwest (Shreveport): Sat., Jan. 25th
• Life March Northeast (Monroe): Sun., Jan. 26th
• Life March Cenla (Alexandria): Sat., Feb. 1st

Our focus this year for our Life Marches is the truth that every life is worth living, regardless of a person's ability or level of development.

This also ties into our Gala speaker, Nick Vujicic, who will be with us this coming weekend at our Proudly Pro-Life Galas in Lafayette and New Orleans. While we are proud to announce that our Lafayette Gala is sold out, it is not too late to register for our New Orleans event with Nick! Nick was born without arms or legs but testifies that God helped him overcome his physical challenges, enabling him to speak to the purpose of every human life.

Our team, along with hundreds of teens from Louisiana, will be in D.C. for the annual March for Life on Friday January 24th. Stay tuned for updates on our social media as Louisiana makes its presence felt in the U.S. Capitol.

We are devastated to share that our friend Leigh Whitman Director passed away on Saturday night, January 11th. Leigh was an incredible advocate for the vulnerable and lived out her pro-life convictions in her everyday life.

Leigh and her husband, Jeff Director, have adopted five children and are close friends of Louisiana Right to Life. Leigh often shared with us her belief that adoption is close to the heart of God and, therefore, should be close to ours, too. She never wavered in her willingness to share this truth and wrote in 2020: "God has not only blessed us with the incredible gift of adoption in our children, but He continually draws the mission of Adoption to our hearts. What is a more beautiful gift than a child? What is a more beautiful gift than life itself?"

Leigh was the Executive Director of The Whitman Family Foundation where she helped serve, through charity, women in crisis pregnancies and the economically disadvantaged. She also served with Jeff as members of the host committee for our Proudly Pro-Life Gala, sponsored our 2022 screening of the adoption film, LifeMark, and shared her adopted son, Benson's, story with us for the New Orleans Right to Life Wall Calendar in 2023.

Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, will be the keynote speaker at Louisiana Life March South! Black Advocates for Life will be hosting a talk after the march with Dr. King at 1:30PM on the campus of Southern University. Her talk is entitled "Honoring the Dream: Defending Black Lives".

Dr. King had three abortions prior to her conversion to the pro-life position in 1983. She often explains that when she was younger she believed the lies that abortion was essential to women's health and that abortion supporters were trying to help women in crisis. Today, Dr. King carries out her uncle's legacy by advocating for the civil rights of the unborn.

We will meet at the Valdry Center for Philanthropy at 598 Harding Blvd. in Baton Rouge. Please share the event with your friends and family. It is free and open to the public.
