We talk a lot about creating content but if you don’t know who you are creating the content for your hard work can end up being a waste of time. I think we have all done that at one time in our business or career where we created work for a specific market and then had nothing happen afterwards. This is why knowing who you are trying to reach is the first and most important step in the process. We call it knowing your Avatar and is the step many put the least amount of effort into, yet it makes the biggest difference in how you develop your content. How do you find your Avatar and ensure you are talking to the right audience?
Personalizing the group or people you want to reach is the strongest way that I have found to do this. I like to picture a person in my life and create content as though that person is the only one that will see it. I name them, know their habits, and can see their likes or dislikes.
