Cold Patching: CDOT Crews Working in Cold to Repair Potholes

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) refers to this time of year, from December through April, as "the heart of the pothole season" -- the months during which the city sees the highest number of potholes.

During the winter months, CDOT crews work seven days per week, and there are also overnight and weekend crews to ensure potholes are filled as promptly as possible.

You may have recently seen crews in our neighborhood, as I've requested CDOT fill potholes that have been exacerbated this winter. Right now, crews are using a technique known as cold-patching, utilizing high-performance cold-patch asphalt to repair potholes that have formed this winter.

Last year, I was able to fund the resurfacing more than 42 blocks of 43rd Ward roadway through allocation of my Aldermanic Menu Fund, and I look forward to continued infrastructure improvements this year!

Sincerely,

Michele Signature
