KristianAdam
New Petite Artist Offers Quirky Characters
Our annual miniature show features the work of many returning artists and some wonderfully talented new ones too.

One of the new artists exhibiting this year is Kristian Adam whose paintings often combine themes of nature and invention from the humorous perspective of animals, which he refers to as "NymNums."

Kristian says that these imagined creatures are what you might expect to see wandering around in his mind all day. Through a variety of techniques inspired by the old masters, he creates quirky narratives for his characters to tell.

Come and see Kristian's minis and those of the many other artists in the show at the festive opening reception for Positively Petite on Friday, Nov 16 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

New Canadians Exhibit This Month
Two exhibitions on display in our gallery spaces from Nov 16 - Dec 20 feature three recent immigrants to Canada.

Uprooted - A Journey of Discovery by Suchen Wu and Teresa Chow narrates an immigrant's departure from one's roots and arrival in an adopted country.

Motion by Zhanna Shomakhova, who emigrated from Russia to Canada in 2008, features acrylic and mixed-media paintings that are colourful reflections of the artist's thoughts, emotions, memories and everyday objects.

Drop by the opening reception for these two shows as well as the Positively Petite: Annual Miniature Exhibition and our Christmas Boutique on Friday, Nov 16, from
7:00 - 9:00 pm.

Sarab

Syrian Musician Makes Canada Home
Passion for music, for teaching, for life - this exudes effortlessly from Sarab Shamoun, one of our skilled new violin and piano teachers.

Sarab lived through some of the most devastating destruction of the Syrian civil war. But upon meeting her, it is evident that she is a happy and vibrant young woman with a positive outlook, an unwavering hope for the future and a devotion to teaching.
