Dear Friends:

This month, we are happy to celebrate the newly opened José Milton Memorial Hospital at Jackson West Medical Center. Jackson West will allow us to expand our world-class medical care into some of the county’s fastest-growing residential and commercial communities. Residents in nearby neighborhoods, all of whom help fund Jackson’s mission, deserve access to our services closer to where they live, work, and play. Jackson West will bring a dedicated pediatric emergency department, staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, as well as full clinical teams, specially trained and experienced in treating children.

As we look toward the end of summer, we are also excited to resume in-person events beginning in the fall. As we plan each of these gatherings we are working closely with health experts to make sure we are being mindful and acting responsibly for the safety of all. Should we need to make adjustments to any of these events we will make sure to share those with you through our different communication channels. In the meantime, please save the date for our inaugural Mind Your Health Event on Sunday, October 10 and enjoy a day outdoors filled with resources and activities focused around mental health. We also encourage you to save the date (and your spot!) for the 22nd Annual Guardians of the Children Luncheon & Fashion Show on November 23, 2021.

We wish you all a beautiful rest of the summer and look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,
Charmaine Gatlin

Jackson West Opening
Jackson West Medical Center, including the Jose Milton Memorial Hospital and the adjacent medical pavilion, is the newest member of Jackson Health System’s family. Together with our other hospitals and medical, urgent care, primary, and specialty care centers, Jackson West is on a mission to become a nationally and internationally recognized working-class medical center.

Jose Milton Memorial Hospital, South Florida’s newest acute care hospital, features adult and pediatric emergency rooms, state-of-the-art surgical and imaging suites, and 100 private suites. We also offer an in-house pharmacy and provide concierge-style medication delivery so patients can confirm and receive any prescription prior to discharge.

Staffed by board-certified physicians, our facilities deliver a full spectrum of services and a commitment to patient-centered care. We cover cardiology, gynecology, and obstetrics, orthopedics, urology, weight-loss surgery, pediatrics, and so much more.

Walk across the breathtaking, connecting SkyBridge and enter Jackson West Medical Center’s medical pavilion, home to physician practices for all ages and specialties. We are delivering on our promise of bringing you all the medical services you need for the entire family, closer to home.

Highlights:
  • A comprehensive medical experience designed around the patient, including easy-to-navigate facilities, innovative technology, and passionately engaged caregivers.
  • Our surgical suites at José Milton Memorial Hospital are equipped with the latest technology to treat patients with varying conditions – from routine to complex cases. The hospital features all-private suites to help patients recover quickly and comfortably.

Holtz Children's Hospital Miracle Spotlight
Baby Zion
Check out this cute knock-out! Baby Zion, one of our little patients in the Holtz Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), recently had his 100-day celebration! He was born early at 23 weeks and to celebrate this amazing milestone, his mom dressed him up like a boxing champion while she dressed up as the referee! It's only a matter of time before Zion will come out of the NICU as an undefeated champion!

Donor Spotlight: Special Thanks to Diego Torres
Diego Torres has been a Jackson Health Foundation donor for decades, making gifts whenever he could. A strong believer of the pivotal role the health system plays in providing accessible care to members of the global community, Torres always felt compelled to support in any way he could. Then, in 2019, the retired math teacher decided to join the mission of Holtz Children's Hospital by committing to monthly donations in support of its pediatric cancer program. As a parent and grandparent, he understands how important it is to have the best medical care available for his family just a few miles away. When asked about the inspiration behind his giving, his answer is simple, "it is up to each and every one of us to make a difference and make sure Holtz Children’s Hospital continues to be a leader in pediatric health care for South Florida and beyond." Thank you, Diego!
