Bella
Bella's Story - 3rd Place in the My Place des Arts Story Contest

Meet our 3rd Place Story Contest Winner!
This month, we're excited to share the first story and visual vignette of Bella Han who won third prize in our My Place des Arts Story Contest that we held last summer as part of our new brand launch.

Bella is a long-time student at Place des Arts, studying piano with Marjory Purdy and ballet with Lucienne Ancykowski. Indeed, the entire Han family are fixtures here! Bella's sister Kara also studied piano, sat as President of our Youth Arts Council and taught as a Junior Piano Teacher, and their parents Mediawati and Arming can be regularly seen working away in the atrium while Bella is in her lessons.

We're thrilled that Bella entered the contest and submitted her wonderful story about why Place des Arts feels like home to her.

CYT

CYT Inspires School Students
Congratulations to our 2018/2019 Coquitlam Youth Theatre Company (CYT), who just finished presenting their first performances of the season!

The students in CYT took two shows on tour to several School District 43 elementary and middle schools, entertaining and inspiring the students. The experience helped our young actors grow as performers, discover the excitement of acting in front of live audiences and build courage and confidence as theatre artists.

Thanks to CYT directors Seamus Fera and Julia Ullrich, and technique coach Shelby Simmons for their hard work and dedication behind the scenes!

Check out photos of the cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on tour here.

Thanks to Metro Vancouver for supporting our 2018/19 Coquitlam Youth Theatre Co!

Parking Illegally? The City Might Ticket You! parking
We recognize that parking is limited at Place des Arts, especially during peak hours, which may cause frustration for our clients.

To create a parking culture that is more stress-free and, most importantly, ensures the safety of all our clients, teachers and staff, we request your cooperation and adherence to City of Coquitlam parking by-laws.

Please be advised that City of Coquitlam by-law officers will be issuing parking tickets to anyone parked in prohibited parking zones at Place des Arts. These include:
  • The drop off zone by the main entrance. This drive-through area is for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only. The driver must remain in the vehicle; double parking or stopping for extended periods is strictly prohibited.
  • On the side of the entrance to the east parking lot on top of the yellow painted "no parking" cross hatching.
City of Coquitlam by-law officers are regularly monitoring the drive-through drop-off zone and the east parking lot, and violators will be ticketed.
