President's Message

Save the Dates!

Dear SoCal ASPA Chapter Member,

As we get ready for Fall, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some exciting news and events that will take place in the upcoming months. First, Mr. Oliver Chi, City Manager of Monrovia, and upcoming City Manager of Huntington Beach, will be sharing his experience with students and professionals at Cal State - LA on September 26th, 2019. You should have received an invitation already via email.

Next, on October 8th, we have  patterned with the California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics to host a Mixer in Downtown LA at Bonaventure Brewing Company. We will have hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary drink fore attendees and have a chance to network and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.

Then, on October 30th, Mr. Randall Lewis will  one again generously sponsor what has become now a tradition at the University of La Verne, the Randall Lewis Student-Professional Networking Dinner. Mr. Bryan Jones, City Manager of Eastvale, will be our featured speaker.

And last but not least, look for another impressive line up of guest speakers at the Panel Discussion that will take place November 14 at Cal State - Dominguez Hills. More details will be shared closer to the event.

The Council is also working on a new recruitment initiative for Council Members. If you are curious about our work or want to serve on the Council, I encourage you to be on the lookout in the upcoming weeks for the recruitment announcement.

Please save the dates and I hope you can join us at any or all of the events we have planned. If you have questions or  suggestion, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at avelazquez@laverne.edu. I look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for your interest in the activities of the SoCal ASPA Chapter.

Sincerely,

Adrian M. Velazquez Vazquez, Ph.D

Great Networking Opportunity

The Annual ASPA Awards ceremony serves a twofold purpose. First, in keeping with ASPA's commitment to excellence in public service, the awards ceremony provides attendees and award recipients the opportunity to hear the many inspiring stories associated with today's public servants. Additionally, the awards
ceremony provides an excellent networking opportunity for all attendees, as do all SoCal ASPA events.

Welcome Julie!
A warm welcome to our President Elect (2020-2022)
