Greetings!
The Community Recreation E-Newsletter provides you ways to get active and have fun safely this spring. Prince George offers an abundance of natural beauty in all seasons. In this edition, you'll find a variety of indoor, outdoor, and virtual activities from the City and non-profit organizations to stay social and keep your mind and body active.
AQUATICS & ARENAS
SWIM LESSONS RETURN
Swimming Lessons are returning this spring to the Prince George Aquatic Centre. The format and size of classes will be different but the fun will be the same. Browse the schedule and register online.

Public swimming is continuing so "take the plunge" and swim laps or bring you family in to enjoy the pool. Participants must sign up and register online. The hot tub, main pool, and lanes are open. Waves, the sauna and steam room, and fitness centre are currently not available. Make sure to bring a mask and review the COVID-19 safety rules before your next swim.
AQUATIC LEADERSHIP
Have you ever thought of becoming a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor? The Prince George Aquatic Centre is once again offering all the courses you need to help get on your way.
CN CENTRE INDOOR WALKING
Indoor walking at the CN Centre is available until April
Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4:00pm

Walkers must pre-register in 1.5 hour blocks and can register between 2 days to 1 hour in advance.

ATHLETICS FOR ALL AGES
Prince George Track and Field - Spring Training
All track and field events training for ages 6 to 106 (Track Rascals to Masters). Certified coaches for competitive and non-competitive activities at Masich Place Stadium. Season begins when the snow is gone! Registration opens in March 2021. Spring season runs April, May and June.
TRAIL WALKING FOR WOMEN -------- KIDS SOCCER & T-BALL
West Bowl Community Association
Ladies, join us for low-intensity hikes to various trails around PG. Fun activities while we walk for an hour, will bring a smile to your face and a spring to your steps. Check out the details online or call 250 552-9901

The West Bowl CA is pleased to announce the return of our $30.00 outdoor programs! This year all are at Foothills Elementary field. Children ages 3-8 can try Soccer or T-ball. Check out the dates times and age categories and register.
SPRING BREAK CREATIVITY CAMPS
Try the Vacation: Imagination Edition Camp or the Tinker Time Camp
This spring break let your child's imagination do all the heavy lifting as they learn new techniques and use different mediums to bring their dream vacations to life! If your child is more of a builder, creator or inventor, come one, come all for a week of hands on making that will encourage them to get creative and think outside the box. Children from grades 1 to 7 are welcome.
LEADERSHIP AND FUN FOR YOUNG WOMEN (10-19 yrs.)
Job's Daughters
Job's Daughters is a leadership organization for young women between 10-19. We are currently holding meetings and fun activities via Zoom due to the COVID gathering bans. Young women in our organization gain confidence and leadership experience through public speaking, and service, while building life-long friendships.

Developing youths' leadership, seamanship, and team building skills. Cadets participate in many activities including classroom based learning, band, camping, sports, outdoor training, drill and first aid. Youth Ages 9-12. Parade Monday nights 6 pm - 9:30 pm. Connaught Youth Centre 1491 17th Avenue.

COME SEE HOW WE ROLL
Lawn Bowling Club
Come and lawn bowl at the Watrous Park lawn bowling green. We supply free lessons and equipment. Season runs from June through to October. Fun and outdoor exercise for all ages. Come and enjoy social events, as well as the regular lawn bowling times on Tuesday 10:00 am, Wednesday 7:00 pm, Thursday 1:00 pm, and Sunday 2:00 pm.

PG MINOR HOCKEY PLAYER REGISTRATION
Prince George Minor Hockey
Prince George Minor Hockey player registration for male and female players born between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2017 will begin on April 1, 2021. Early bird fees will be in place until May, 31, 2021. For players wishing to play both recreational hockey or representative hockey.
CANSKATE - LEARN TO SKATE
A dynamic skating program to prepare skaters for any ice sport!
CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills.
BC OLD TIME FIDDLERS - PG BRANCH
Weekly Jams, Group Lessons, Monthly dances, Community Playouts
Come and play the fiddle with us. We welcome beginner to advanced players at our weekly jamming and group lessons. We play for seniors’ residences and community events, and host monthly dances and annual Jamborees. It’s a great place to learn, listen, make new friends. We follow all provincial health regulations so our activity schedule does vary. Check out the website for updates

PARKS AND TRAILS
Get outside and enjoy Prince George's parks and trails
Getting outside makes you happy and healthy. Parks and trails are critical for maintaining physical and mental health. Now more than ever we see Prince George residents getting out and enjoying the parks and trails throughout the community. The City's Parks Division would like to remind everyone to dress for the weather, be aware of your surroundings and enjoy!
• Obey all trail signage. Stay to the right, pass on the left. Check out more maps and information on City trails.
• Please watch and be ready for natural hazards – falling tree branches, uneven or slippery trails, etc. Use with caution and use at your own risk.
• Please clean up after your pet. Find out more about pets and off leash areas in our park and trails on the website.
• Please be BEAR AWARE. Make noise, travel in groups, never approach or feed a bear and report all sightings to the BC Conservation Office 24 hrs.1-877-952-RAPP(7277). Here is more information on being Bear Aware in Prince George.

MASICH PLACE STADIUM
Prince George's premier outdoor sporting facility.
The newly renovated stadium offers something for everyone and hosts many different user groups for booked practices and games on the synthetic infield, rubber track and throws facilities. The Stadium proudly offers a safe, accessible walking experience on the 8 lane rubber track through the Public Walking program all season long.

Public Walking Hours
April                    7 am – 8 pm (Masich opening is weather dependent)
May to August         6 am – 9 pm
Sept. to Nov.           7 am – 8 pm

The Public Walking program will open when weather permits and private bookings allow. The daily open hours will shift so please ensure you visit the website DAILY for updates to check when Public Walking is open.
