SUSTAINING SUCCESSFUL TURNAROUND

A 90% graduation rate would yield $1.8 billion in local, state, and federal taxes according to a study last year by the Alliance for Excellent Education. Key to reaching that goal will be turning around the nation's lowest performing schools. This month, Arne Duncan targeted that goal with a new $15 million initiative to place AmeriCorps volunteers into turnaround schools. ERS' School System 20/20 Toolkit has several resources that explore what it takes for districts to lead successful turnaround efforts. Use the resources below to explore promising efforts underway and get help thinking through a strategy to get there.
