"Finding the yes" means solving problems with optimism...something our very own D-Backs are experts in.
According to JT McCreary, Sr. Director for Guest Services with the Arizona Diamondbacks, "finding the yes" is engrained in the D-Backs culture.
When JT sat down with Keys CEO Amy Schwabenlender and Director of Strategic Impact Richard Crews on the season premiere of Season 5 of the McQuaid Mission on It Happens at STN, he explained.
"When a fan has a request, no matter how far-fetched or outlandish - we don't rush to say 'it's impossible,'" says JT.
"Instead, the conversation becomes - if we can't do what they're asking, what can we say yes to instead?" Perhaps it's not possible to grant a fan's request to meet their favorite player in the locker room before a big game. But it is possible to relocate the fan's seats to be near the left field bullpen where that favorite player warms up.
Applied to the work of Keys to Change - "finding the yes" means coming up with creative solutions in collaboration with our community partners and unhoused clients. If a service isn't available - what else might that client qualify for? What other partners can we contact to help "find the yes"?
If funding cuts directly lead to sharp increase in the "no"s we must deliver, how can our organization create a "yes" buffer to make sure people aren't negatively affected?
And when there's no permanent housing available - how can we help clients overcome their other barriers in the meantime?
When your role in the community is to deliver services to people in crisis, "finding the yes" might change a life forever.
Thank you to JT and the whole D-Backs crew for your continued partnership and thought leadership!
