Finding Your Transplant Family

At Transplant House of Cleveland, the support caregivers and patients receive takes many forms: an affordable place to stay, proximity to the hospitals, an on-staff transplant social worker, and a community of guests who are on a similar journey.

Often we hear guests refer to one another as their "transplant family." When sharing breakfasts and dinners, riding together on the hospital shuttle, taking walks around the neighborhood, and bumping into each other in the laundry rooms and hallways of Transplant House, lasting friendships are formed. Not only do they help one another during their time in Cleveland, but these friendships also last long after the families have returned home.

We are honored to be part of this big Transplant House Family – one that extends into almost every state in the US – which has grown steadily since we first opened our doors in 2014.

The transplant journey is never an easy one, but having others who understand what it means to be on that journey with you can make it a little easier.

Meet Rodney & Sheena

The Stepps' 4-year journey to a kidney transplant began in March of 2020 when Rodney contracted COVID-19. Traveling to Cleveland from their hometown of Indianapolis, the couple did not know how long they would need to stay away from home, but were glad to find a home-away-from-home at Transplant House.

Volunteers: Providing a Taste of Home

Our meal volunteers are a big reason why our guests find Transplant House a welcoming, home-away-from-home while staying in Cleveland for life-saving medical care. The Wednesday dinners are the perfect volunteer activity for a group and we have a need for meal volunteers beginning in June!

Ring that Bell!

Kendall Conley received her heart transplant on March 22 and, after 77 nights at Transplant House, she and her mom and caregiver Cydney returned home to Kentucky! The only thing we love more than the sound of the bell is Kendall's smile. Bell ringings are special moments for everyone at the House – a moment to celebrate the miraculous gift of life made possible by transplant and to hold the donor and their family in our thoughts. Without their decision to say "yes" to becoming an organ donor, this moment would not be possible.

If you are not already a registered organ donor, please consider becoming one today.
