All Things Important Monthly Newsletter April 2025

Next Meeting is April 9th at 7pm

Our presenter this month is artist Laura Tyres who specializes in oil painting and portraiture.

Laura’s Artist Bio:

As a young child, I was fascinated with color and form and this is

what started my interest in art, specifically painting. Throughout

my educational years, art always remained an important part of

my life.

Now in the second half of my life, I feel fortunate to have the time

to fulfill my creative passion, by devoting a few hours each week

to painting. I love to explore the color and texture of nature and

have primarily focused on oil painting. I find joy in portraying the

world around me, whether it be portraits, landscapes, floral

paintings, pet portraits or people involved in everyday activities.

You can find me in my studio in downtown Wilton, NH where I

share space with a couple of artist friends. Although we have no

formal training, we like to collaborate and continue to push each

other to go beyond our artistic comfort level.

Looking ahead...

No general meeting in May in lieu of our Art Show.

In June we are going to be having a hands-on, interactive, extremely useful tutorial on how to photograph your own artwork using a smart phone. Bring in a piece of art that you wish you could have a digital image of to post on social media or to include in your own artist biok and leave with that image edited and ready to go!

Dear Members,

Hollis Arts Society is run by volunteers. Our board members are all volunteers, our refreshments are provided by volunteers, and we are in need of two more people to help out.

First, we need someone who will schedule our monthly presenters. This position involves reaching out to local artists and inquiring if they like to be a presenter for us on the second Wednesday of the month. In return, they recieve a $50 stipend and a free membership for the year. This position is best filled by someone who likes networking and meeting new people.

Second, we need a volunteer to help organize workshops that will be held at various locations including the Gallery on Pearl Street and the Lawrence Barn. When we identify an artist willing to teach a workshop we need a volunteer to help organize the logistics. This position is best filled by someone who is punctual and naturally pays attention to details.

If you are one of these people, please reply to this email with your best contact information and we will contact you ASAP.

Thanks in advance!
