As the term wraps up, we hope your exams are going well! This newsletter has everything you need to finish strong, including a helpful “before you go” checklist. Plus, we’re hiring student staff for the 2026–2027 academic year – don’t miss this opportunity to join our team!

Winter Break Checklist


Before you leave for the winter break make sure you:


  1. Return your GOOD-TO-GO container
  2. Throw out any garbage
  3. Close both panes of your window
  4. Don’t forget your keys
  5. Lock your door

Reminder: Winter Break Stayover and Extension Request forms due Dec. 14


To maintain a quiet study environment for everyone during December exams, a reminder that you are required to leave Residence by 3 pm the day after writing your last scheduled exam, or by noon on Saturday, December 20 at the latest.

 

If you need to extend your Residence stay beyond 3 pm on the day after your last exam, or if you need to stay over the break, please go to the Residence and Dining Portal to fill out one or both of the below forms:

 

1.    Residence Extension Request – to request to remain in Residence past 3 pm on the day after your last exam

2.    Residence Stayover Form – to request to stay in Residence over the break (for some or all of the time between noon on December 20 and January 3)

 

You must submit these forms by Sunday, December 14 at 11:59 pm.

IMPORTANT – Return your GOOD TO GO container before leaving campus!


Returning your containers to retail food locations is essential to keep the GOOD TO GO program sustainable (and to keep your room free from unwanted smells!)

December Hours & Last Meals before the Winter Break


Dining locations are operating on adjusted hours this month. Remember to plan ahead!


The last meal before the Winter Break will be breakfast (9:30 am to 1 pm) on December 20 at Leonard and Jean Royce dining halls. The Lazy Scholar will be open until 11 pm on December 19 and on December 20 until 1 pm.


All dining locations will reopen for regular hours of operation on January 5, 2026, with limited operations beginning on January 4.

Hanukkah-Inspired Menu Features


Celebrate the season with tasty treats at Leonard and Jean Royce dining halls! From Sunday, December 14 to Friday, December 19, enjoy tasty sufganiyots (jelly-filled donuts) after sundown. Plus, on Monday, December 15 and Wednesday, December 17, don't miss out on crispy potato latkes.


These delicious features were curated in consultation with student members of Hillel Queen’s.

Looking for a study spot?


  • Check out Library Hours.
  • All students are welcome to study at Queen's International Centre (QUIC) throughout December. Mitchell Hall 208, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–4:30 pm.
  • QTBIPoC students (queer, transgender, Black, Indigenous, and/or students of colour) can study at the Yellow House Rideau location. Monday to Friday, 10 am–4 pm, Rideau Building, third floor (207 Stuart St).
  • Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre (4D) welcomes Indigenous students to stop by and study throughout December. Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–4:30 pm, 144-146 Barrie St.
  • The Student Experience Office (SEO) is open for quiet study time Monday to Friday, December 3–19, 1–3:30 pm, JDUC 216.
