Finish Well

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

In recent days, the evangelical community was rocked with news of a very prominent pastor and well-published Bible teacher being removed from the pulpit of his church for an “inappropriate relationship” with a woman not his wife. This man is a mere year older than I am, which means that he is as keenly aware of this truth as I am – e.g., we are both much closer to the finish line than we are the starting line. And here’s another sobering truth of which I am aware: You are always better remembered for how you finished than how you started.

Paul’s encouragement to the church in Galatia as regards their work in the Gospel is that there is a certain reward – a tangible and clear benefit – when one finishes well the assignment before them. There is effort that must be expended. It is not lost effort, but you have to finish!

We at Daybreak are keenly aware of that fact. Many thought the battle for the lives of unborn children in our country was almost won when Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022. Now, of course, we know it most certainly was and is not. If anything, the “finish line” on that battle feels even further away with one of our current presidential candidates talking about her commitment to make abortion a constitutionally protected right if she is elected. Our opposition is committed, and we must be equally, if not more so, committed to finish this fight well.

Many of you have been our faithful supporters in this effort, and we are so very grateful for your support. One additional way you might support us would be to help us recruit participants for our upcoming walk/run at Saluda Shoals Park on Saturday, October 12th. It is our 8th Annual “Run/Walk for Life”, and our theme this year is “Run With Perseverance” Hebrews 12:1

We only have two major fund-raising activities each year, and this is the second of those. We are sincerely hoping that you and your family will be joining in, along with any friends you can encourage to come as well. It is a wonderful family event, with all of the proceeds going to help Daybreak stay in the race for life. And because it is our Sovereign King’s desire for each of us, we want, above all things, to finish well.

DAYBREAK'S 2ND ANNUAL DIAPER BOWL - USC VS CLEMSON: Help us “re-stock” our diaper closet by way of a friendly competition between the Gamecock and Tiger factions of our donor base. It's called “Daybreak’s 2nd Annual Diaper Bowl.” If you would like to join in this friendly competition, there are two ways you can do so. Between November 1 and November 30, you can make a donation at www.kindridgiving.com/App/Giving/daybreakministries, choosing either “Gamecock Diapers” or “Tiger Diapers" from the "Fund" dropdown box. Or you can write a check to Daybreak, entering on the “For” line either “Gamecock Diapers” or “Tiger Diapers”. All diapers purchased for our diaper closet will be EveryLife Diapers, EveryLife is an unapologetically Christian company that does not support organizations that destroy innocent life. Diaper Score updates will be posted each week on social media.
