As you may be aware, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently issued new guidance regarding face coverings for people who are fully vaccinated. I want to let you know how Ray-Pec Schools will address this issue.
For the final six days of school, the District plans to maintain the same protocols in its indoor facilities that have been in place since Aug. 24, 2020. These protocols, which include wearing face coverings indoors when consistent physical distancing between people is not possible, have successfully allowed Ray-Pec to conduct in-person classes for the entire school year.
The decision to maintain our protocol for the final six days of the school year is informed by guidance from the CDC, which has urged schools to continue their COVID-19 prevention strategies for the remainder of the current academic year. This academic year ends May 25, 2021, for Ray-Pec.
As for Summer School, which begins on June 7, face coverings will be highly recommended in all indoor settings, but not required for students or staff. Face coverings will not need to be utilized, unless a student or staff member wants to wear one, when activities are conducted outdoors.
All of our COVID-19 mitigation protocols will be re-evaluated as we approach the 2021-2022 school year. Decisions about prevention measures, including face coverings, will be based on our experiences over the summer and with input from our state and local health partners.
Your continued patience and grace with this and all of the issues navigating the pandemic has brought to us throughout this school year is much appreciated.
Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.
