50th Annual Convention
January 21-24, 2016

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Family Members:
This year we will be celebrating our 50th Annual Convention in Sacramento at the Grand Sheraton, "50 years of Union Service".  As we look back over the last 50 years of how our union was first formed in 1966 as an association and where we are today as the third-largest union in the country, I can't help but thank all of our members, officers and family members for supporting this great organization.  If you have time to stop and say hello to old friends and make new ones,  please come by and show your support to our growing family.

Fraternally,
Mike Lopez

Brown's  $170.7 billion budget proposal includes a $719 million one-time drought package, including an extra $215 million to the state's emergency fund for battling big blazes.
The extra cash, along with increased funding for healthy forests and bolstering levies, takes into account the "new normal" as it relates to climate change and the state's historic drought, officials say.
