Oct. 25, 2023

Dear Friends,

In many ways, the April fire seems distant. We've been gathering, learning, remembering, and praying since then in a lot of creative ways (Our November/December Connections newsletter contains several photos demonstrating this on pg. 2). We will always find a way forward together!

With Fairmount Temple's ongoing conversations with The Temple-Tifereth Israel, we're keeping in mind all of the possibilities in the coming months. That's why we're conservatively approaching the restoration process in the front of the building, with a focus on keeping temple clean, safe and dry, and also reopening some of the large spaces for us to gather this winter. I'm pictured here in our newly reopened Memorial hallway with our yarhzeit plaques. You may come visit the hall of remembrance in tribute to your loved ones whenever Fairmount Temple is open.

Electrical work may be done in the coming weeks and roof work is underway. I'm really hoping to invite you back into the Bonda Chapel, Spiegle Sukenik Atrium, and Weinberg Social Hall by the end of the year. Wouldn't that be lovely?

Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement during this recovery process,

Julianna Senturia Johnston, Executive Director

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE POSSIBLE TEMPLE UNIFICATION

The exploration of the proposal to unify with The Temple-Tifereth Israel sparks deep feelings among our members. What are yours? You are invited to a special gathering to share your feelings of attachment to Fairmount Temple, and your valuable insights about which parts of our legacy are important to carry into the future. Your thoughts will help our temple leaders understand our members' priorities, whether or not unification becomes a reality. Join one of two in-person conversations at Fairmount Temple, guided by our Caring Community Coordinator, Wendy Jacobson, LISW, and Marcia Levine, ACSW, retired from JFSA. Choose either Wednesday, Nov. 1, 7-8:30 pm, or Monday, Nov. 6, from 3:30-5 pm. Email Wendy Jacobson here to RSVP or with questions.
