Course Overview:
In this webinar we are going to discuss critical elements on how to protect key evidence during salvage and overhaul operations following NFPA 1010, which replaces the former NFPA 1001 in 2024.
Salvage and overhaul is a critical part of every fire scene including minimizing damage to property and evidence along with ensuring complete fire extinguishment.
Salvage and overhaul operations become more critical if a fire death, severe injury including fire personnel during fire ground operations or arson is suspected.
We will discuss moving and protecting key evidence from the structure or vehicle that can later be examined and re-constructed by investigators and other experts and also when the Incident Commander should have a Fire Investigator on the fire scene.
There are many new tools today that help fire suppression crews minimize damage caused by salvage and overhaul including thermal imaging cameras.
Aggressive salvage and overhaul operations can destroy critical evidence, which could result in an undetermined fire cause examination.
The key role of fire suppression crews is to protect life and property along with protecting key evidence to help fire investigators conduct a thorough fire scene investigation and determine the origin and cause of a fire.
This webinar was designed for all investigators, incident commanders, fire company officers, truck companies, law enforcement personnel involved in interviews and interrogations, private investigators and insurance special investigators.
