Dear community members,

Early this morning, the Adas Israel Congregation synagogue in Duluth was severely damaged in a fire. We have already been in touch with the synagogue to offer our support. We are also in contact with the JCRC, Nechama and the Minneapolis Jewish Federation, and are working on a coordinated community response.

The synagogue, which is more than 100 years old, is home to an Orthodox congregation of about 75 people. Tragically, the building has been described as “pretty much a total loss” by a Duluth fire official. We thank the Duluth Fire Department and the Duluth Police Department for their swift response.

Our hearts are with the Adas community at this difficult time. Please stand by for more information.

Sincerely,

Ted Flaum
CEO, St. Paul Jewish Federation
