In this study, Responsive Management estimated that 81,300,495 adult U.S. residents personally own a firearm; among this group, 44,322,700 participated in some type of target or sport shooting activity in the previous calendar year. This means that the remaining 36,977,795 firearm owners, or 45.48%, did not participate.
