San Gabriel, CA – At 10:44 a.m., the San Gabriel Fire Department responded to reports of smoke in a vacant building at the 500 block of East Valley Boulevard. With the help of the Arcadia Fire Department, the Monterey Park Fire Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and San Gabriel Police, firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire in approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards, an extensive overhaul was conducted to ensure no remaining pockets of fire remained.
San Gabriel Fire is still investigating the cause of the fire, though a preliminary inspection indicates that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. There were no reported injuries to residents or to firefighters at today’s incident.
