Did you know?

In the 1860s during the American Civil War, a battery with artillery was constructed at the tip of the Cedar Point peninsula. It was used to defend the Confederate solider prison on Johnson Island located across the Sandusky Bay from Cedar Point. A German immigrant built two boats to transport prisoners. In 1870, following the war, he began to ferry locals to the Cedar Point peninsula, which opened as a public bathing beach. This was the beginning of tourism on the Cedar Point peninsula.

Many people think heart failure means the heart stops. However, heart failure, also known as HF, means the heart isn’t pumping as well as it should, making simple daily activities difficult. Congestive heart failure is a type of HF. The heart and body try and make-up for the heart’s waning efficiency, which works for a while. The temporary masking of symptoms might explain why some people may not be aware of their condition until years after their heart begins declining. Join Dr. Njoroge, whose specialty is HF, as she discusses this serious condition, and learn how many people manage the condition and lead full lives.
