Drought Increases Fireworks Danger
Despite the recent rainfall, Illinois remains in a severe drought - and the dry conditions significantly increase the risk of fires started by errant sparks. The Fire Department reminds residents that fireworks are illegal in Illinois, and even sparklers can pose a fire danger in the current conditions. Fireworks account for nearly 20,000 fires and several deaths each year. Read more about fireworks hazards.
Pet Waste and Etiquette
Please remember to observe proper pet etiquette when out and about with your dog. No one wants to encounter pet waste on their walk, so don’t forget to pack bags and clean up after your pet! Dogs must be leashed at all times when in public areas.
Block Party Appearances
Block parties are back, and the Village is excited to be a part of your neighborhood event! Special appearances by members of our Police, Fire and Public Works departments can be requested through our online form. Please provide 14 days' notice to allow for scheduling of equipment and personnel. While our first responders will make every effort to fulfill requests, emergencies and calls for service receive priority.
