GREETINGS,
Summer is winding down but we still have activities taking place. Our Summer Concert Series continues. Registration for many fall activities is open online for residents. Adaptive Sports Greenwich, a community program for children and youth with special needs, continues through the summer months.
Parks and Recreation is asking for resident input on capital projects for the department. More details can be found below. As a reminder, the Town fireworks displays have been rescheduled for Labor Day weekend. For information on other Special Events scheduled for August and September around town, click here.
Except for Town holidays, the Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We encourage you to make an appointment between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Most business can be done online. Office staff are available by email; feel free to contact us.

Do NOT Feed the Waterfowl !
|
Please do not feed the ducks and geese, especially on Town properties - You can help waterfowl by not feeding them. Waterfowl, such as ducks and geese, are wild birds that can locate natural food sources throughout the year. Feeding creates numerous problems, not only for people, but also for the birds. Well-intentioned people erroneously believe that feeding is beneficial to waterfowl, but it often has negative ecological, environmental, and social consequences.

MYTH: ADULTS DON'T NEED SUPERVISION.
Since 2009, over 25,000 people have drowned in the US: 6,300 children, 2,900 teenagers and 15,800 adults. Many adults don't know how to swim. Plus, no matter how strong of a swimmer you are, you should not swim alone. Even good swimmers can get into trouble and drown in a pool, lake, river, or ocean. Always have a swim buddy with you, when there is no lifeguard on duty.

Mobile pickleball nets have recently been placed at Byram Park courts and Western Middle School courts. Make sure you unlock the wheels prior to moving the nets and re-lock them after moving the nets.
Also, Recreation is pleased to announce that we have added a section of pickleball play for Beginner and Low-intermediate Level Pickleball Players. This program will be held at Western Middle School courts on Saturdays and Tuesdays. You must pre-register. This is NOT a drop-in program, and this is NOT an instructional program.

|
The tennis/pickleball court reservation system is still open. To reserve a court, click here. Tennis passes are required for all "in season" play on Town tennis courts, which includes playing pickleball on tennis or pickleball courts. The Tennis season runs May to November. Courts are only available to tennis pass holders. Pickleball lines are painted on Loughlin Avenue, Western Middle School, and one court at Byram Park. Regulation pickleball courts are located at Christiano Park. Get a new or renew your Season Tennis Pass here.
As a result of the construction project for the new Eastern Greenwich Civic Center building, the entrance gate for the tennis courts at EGCC has been changed. The new entrance gate is located on the north end of the courts, adjacent to the field. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CUT THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE TO ACCESS THE COURTS OR PLAYGROUND. Use the new entrance to the grounds at the break in the stone wall.

Withdrawal Policy for Recreation Activities
other than Day Camps
Credit requests for recreation program registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the program. There is a $15 administrative fee per section for credits. The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled. Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering if you have any questions. Should someone withdraw from a program after it has begun, the credit will be pro-rated based on the time remaining in the program when the withdrawal is requested.
