Florecer helps bloom future leaders

We had a great conversation at this month's meeting of our Florecer mentors and youth mentees including presentations from UpValley Family Centers, youth psychologist Gena Gear and our First 5's own Ashley Walker. Thank you to our participants and stay tuned for future signup possibilities!

An Ethos We Share

This month we're finding inspiration in one of our favorite quotations (one that was also shared at the recent First 5 Association statewide summit).

"It's easier to build strong children than it is to repair broken men."

-- Frederick Douglass

Let's work together to build strong children!

First 5 Summit Gathers Statewide Leadership

The 2025 First 5 Association summit took place last week, bringing together members of our First 5 network from around the state. Highlights included:

  • A campaign to help educate political candidates on the importance of early childhood care
  • A discussion with author and Stanford Professor Isabelle C. Hau on the role of artificial intelligence and the need for a more relationship-based model for early childhood wellbeing
  • A rallying cry from former U.S. Health & Human Services Secretary (and possible gubernatorial candidate) Xavier Becerra

RSVP for Young Latina Women's Conference

The Spanish-language conference organized by the Bi-National Health Alliance provides a forum for young Latina students from 9th grade through college sophomores to connect with professional mentors and address cultural barriers to advancement and success in our community. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at the Napa Valley College's Community Room.
