Celebrate the Week of the Young Child April 11-17

April 11 - 17 marks a national campaign: the Week of the Young Child. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has assembled activities and resources for all those who care about kids, including teachers, community leaders and parents.

Let's spark joy and build teamwork in support of kids with Week of the Young Child Activities - find and follow @First5Napa on Facebook and Instagram for more.

  • Wear blue on Friday, April 10 and share on social: use #WearBlue4Kids and tag @CopeFamilyCenter
  • Attend the Napa County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, April 14 or the Napa City Council session on Tuesday, April 21 to show your support.

Cover-to-Cover Reading Challenge: Napa County Library

Wondering what else to do with kids at home over Spring Break?

Napa County Libraries in American Canyon, Napa, Yountville and Calistoga have a suggestion: the In-N-Out Cover-to-Cover Reading Challenge taking place between now and April 18, for kids 4 - 12.

Stop by your local library branch to register. When your young readers have completed their reading log, they'll receive a reward card from In-N-Out Burger for a free hamburger, cheeseburger, grilled cheese, or veggie sandwich. Kids need to be present to redeem their prize and the last day to redeem is April 18.

Getting Kids Outdoors this Spring with Napa County Parks

Thanks to our friends at Napa County Regional Park & Open Space District for their work to share outdoor resources for kids and families.

They've put together a Spring Trails Challenge encouraging you to bring your family and hit the trail, from the kid-friendly garden with poppies at the entrance at Moore Creek Park (St. Helena) to Wetlands Edge Park in American Canyon, and beyond.

It's a message that we can get behind this Spring: #GoOutsideandPlay
