From Our Executive Director

Learn. Create. Inspire. Believe.

These four words are included in our motto and describe the essence of who we are at First Act Theatre Arts. “Believe” stands eminent to me as we approach the Nativity season. Recently one of our graduating seniors shared his testimony of how the folks at First Act supported his faith in God and impacted his life. By the time he was finished, there was hardly a dry eye in the crowd of students and parents. He beautifully expressed the belief we share in God’s provision and care for each of us and the work being done here at First Act. Without HIM, we can do nothing. This young man also reminded me of the belief I have in First Act Theatre Arts as an organization. The public assesses the strength of our organization from the outside, allow me to share a glimpse of the inside:

Did you know that our small but mighty board prays for God’s wisdom and guidance as they make impactful decisions?  They meet monthly and deliberate carefully to ensure our beautiful kids are cared for and our organization remains strong.

Did you know that many previous board members, alumni parents and former students continue to be a part of us?  They share their time, talent, and treasure to ensure our beautiful kids are cared for and our organization remains strong.

Did you know that our staff – the artistic team, those who work in the office, the various managers, and our teachers – pray for and show love to our students and this organization in countless sacrificial ways?  Nonprofit work is not about financial reward. These folks give out of love and go the extra hundred miles to ensure our beautiful kids are cared for and our organization remains strong.

Finally, did you know that I share that same love for First Act Theatre Arts?  Each day I acknowledge in prayer my need for God’s help – without Him I can do nothing.

Since joining the First Act family, I have spent time building relationships with First Act staff and parent leadership to foster a culture of learning and community where we work together as one. I have worked to put best practices in place for the handling of our finances with controls and accountability built in because I believe integrity in the handling of finances, speaks to the integrity of who we are. I continue to build bridges with people from our past and those in our present because relationships are at the heart of who we are. I listen to and learn from you all because I understand that it takes all of us working together to ensure our beautiful kids are cared for and our organization remains strong.

So when I hear the amazing testimony of a student regarding God’s grace and work through First Act Theatre Arts – I believe… and hope you do too.

Learn. Create. Inspire. Believe.

Have a blessed holiday season. Remember us in your prayers and, if you are so inclined, in your end of year giving. We give thanks to God daily for His grace and for you.

Cindy
