The Consulate General of Mexico in Austin, in collaboration with local nonprofit Foundation Communities, will recognize the 140 recipients of the MexAustin Scholarship at a ceremony on Wednesday, June 29th.
This new scholarship is for students who are first- or second-generation Mexican or other Latino immigrants with demonstrated financial need that will be entering college in the fall. The scholarship aims to make college more accessible for these students. Nearly 70% of the scholarship recipients are from families who make less than $50,000 a year.
The MexAustin Scholarship program is funded by the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin and Central Texas organizations committed to encourage Mexican and Latino students to pursue higher education.
The Award Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 6pm at the AISD Performing Arts Center on 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd, Austin, TX 78723. Everybody is invited.
