With the completion of the temporary travel lanes, crews will begin the process of demolishing the old railroad bridge on 1st Avenue (between 29th – 31st St) that was backfilled years ago. This work will begin early next week, and will be completed with large earth-moving and excavation equipment.

During this time, 1st Avenue will remain open one lane each direction, using the temporary travel lanes recently completed. Business access will be accessible via side-streets.

Once crews have demolished the old bridge, they will begin utility improvements and preparations for the new box culvert that will serve as the pedestrian underpass. The contractor will continue working on these items for as long as winter weather allows.

The east leg of the intersection at 1st Avenue and 29th Street (Walgreens side) remains closed; the west leg of the intersection (Five Seasons Tire side) is right-in, right-out only.
