During the 2020-2021 construction season, the final phase of the multi-year 1st Avenue project will be completed, which includes a significant CeMar Trail component and pedestrian underpass.
This is the final work associated with the 1st Avenue project, which saw a complete overhaul between 27th Street and 40th Street in 2014 – 2019. This final phase will include improvements that were not addressed in previous years, as they were scheduled to occur at the same time as the CeMar Trail work.
Traffic Impacts - What to Anticipate
1st Avenue will remain open to traffic throughout the project, but lane reductions and lane shifts will be in effect while work is underway. Temporary side street closures will also be required. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout construction.
Starting This Week
Impacts starting this week include a lane reduction for traffic traveling southbound on 1st Avenue between 32nd Street and 29th Street. This initial traffic pattern will continue for approximately the next month.
Starting April 24
, 30th Street Drive SE will be closed at 1st Avenue for approximately two weeks, for utility work associated with the project.
