This Week in Worship - United Methodist Women Sunday

In celebration of UMW Sunday, we are having a guest pastor,
Rev. Inell Claypool, in all three worship services. Rev. Claypool is from the Upper New York Annual Conference and serves beyond the local church as Chaplain at Wesleyan Homes in Georgetown. When she is not regularly preaching at Wesleyan, she is on the Ministry Team at First UMC in Georgetown. Rev. Claypool may look familiar because she and her husband have attended our CrossRoads service. Rev. Claypool will be preaching at all three worship services.
Please join us in worship this weekend. The 8:30 and 11 am services will be in the Sanctuary. The 9:40 am service will be in the Family Life Center.

Sharing our blessings...the Thanksgiving Bag Mission
In 2013 the Student Ministries program began an outreach to the community by providing Thanksgiving meals to limited income families in local elementary schools. The first year we provided meals to 60 families at 5 elementary schools.
Over the years this ministry to our community has been adopted by many members of our congregation, which has allowed us to feed even more families each year. In 2017, we fed 374 families Thanksgiving meals including the turkey and pie!
As this ministry has grown over the years we have expanded to include more schools and organizations. This year we will serve the following elementary schools: Berkman, Blue Bonnet, Caldwell Heights, Robertson, Union Hill, Voigt and Wells Branch. We will also include Success High School, Texas Baptist Children's Home, Texas National Guard and Boys to Men of God/ Daughters of the King.
This outreach to our community is only possible through generous donations of food, volunteers delivering the meals, and volunteers helping to organize and distribute the meals.
Grab a bag this Sunday, October 14, or from the Church office next week to provide a family with a Thanksgiving meal!
Please return your filled Thanksgiving Bags to the church by Sunday, November 11.
We will be delivering meals on Tuesday, November 13, from 6 - 7 pm.
