Vision 2025 Launch Lunch is this Sunday
First Church News & Updates - September 21, 2018
Crane
As we write this, the new compressor is being installed! We expect the 8:30 and 11 am worship services to be in the sanctuary. It took a very large crane to hoist the 4000+ lb piece of equipment.

We are thankful for the excellent weather this week! Thanks for your patience and thanks even more to the leadership of our Trustees in this effort.

Question for the day: When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Happy Fall, Y'all. Enjoy this First Church E-News.
Vision 2025 - Join us for lunch this Sunday!
You are invited to the Vision 2025 Launch Lunch
This Sunday, September 23 from 12:15 to 2:30 pm in the Family Life Center
We had the first intro to Vision 2025 last Sunday and will continue to learn more in upcoming weeks. During worship you will be getting snapshots of the Vision, but this lunch gathering is where, after a light lunch and main presentation, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and even sign up to be part of one of our implementation teams. This will be an exciting, informative and holy gathering.

Please register so that enough food is provided. Click here to register.

Words from Will...

Be “In the Know”
Vision 2025 is designed to create a series of movements in our ministry that launch us into a new generation of reaching people for Christ. Hopefully by now, you know the four word slogan, “ Experience Love, Spread Hope” and can share it with anyone around you. This Sunday, you will get to see our first version of the new opening video for worship services. I think you will like what you see. The more extended purpose statement is “First Church boldly spreads the love of God in Jesus Christ to bring hope to the world.” It is that combination of boldness of words and action with turning all that we are outward in hope that will yield powerful results.

In worship services this Sunday, we will highlight the second arena: Superb Christian Formation - Christian Education of Children and Youth, Biblical Studies for All Ages and Leadership Development. The way we equip people to live strong Christian lives and effectively witness for Christ in the world must adapt to the challenges and the communication trends of our day. Otherwise, our children and youth will be ill-prepared for what they will face in their day to day lives and we will lose our ability to witness to the world’s most needed message – the love of God in Jesus Christ. The world is also desperate for a new kind of leadership – at home, at work, in government, and yes, in the church. Our theme as a denomination is “Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” If transformation of the world is a genuine goal, then producing a new generation of leaders is an important part of getting there.

Last Call for Sunday afternoon! Food will be served beginning at 12:15 pm followed by a presentation of Vision 2025, a time of idea sharing, and time for Q & A. The goal for these first four weeks is to get everyone “in the know” and to start folks dreaming. The actual initiatives inside these arenas will be led by implementation teams.

What things will catch holy fire first? We also hope you will be asking another question, “How is God leading me to get involved?” See you Sunday.

Sincerely in Christ,
Will Cotton Signature
