🌷🐇🐥🌷🐇🐥🌷 Happy Spring! 🌷🐇🐥🌷🐇🐥🌷

Looking Towards Sunday

O God, you are my God; I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” -- Psalm 63:1

I’d like to stay with David for a second straight Sunday. Last week, we studied his sacred song about seeking God’s company: “Your face, Lord, do I seek. Do not hide your face from me.” We learned that having a well-defined idea about God’s nature and name (as David did) takes a long, long time. We also learned that it’s okay to start our own seeking from scratch!

This week’s sacred song (selected verses from Psalm 63) has a similar sound. David describes his desire for God in terms of thirst, or appetite, or craving. I think most of us have experienced those same pangs. I also think we often seek and settle for quick thirst quenchers instead of waiting on God to satisfy us. I’ll say more when I see you. The sermon is entitled: The Need for Speed

Be a blessing. Be the church.

One Great Hour of Sharing,

March 30th

"You’re here to be the light, bringing out the God-colors in the world."

Matthew 5:14

When you give to One Great Hour of Sharing, you are light for people in need. You offer light when disasters strike, and when chronic conditions threaten families and communities. You are light not just in the immediate future, but also for the long haul. When you give, you restore not only structures, but also transform lives. Your gift ensures that no matter how difficult the situation, light shines.

Be the light.

Give to One Great Hour of Sharing.

GHIAA joins movement to protect CT's immigrants

In response to the federal government's increased efforts to deport immigrants -- often without any due process protections -- GHIAA is joining CT immigrant advocates in efforts to strengthen CT's 2019 Trust Act, and to raise awareness of the constitutional rights that all persons here have. GHIAA participated in a rally and press conference on March 3, and expects a public hearing to be held soon, for which we all will be invited to submit comments.

ICE has already begun to increase enforcement activity in CT, causing many immigrant families to fear going to work, going to school, obtaining health care, or participating in their faith communities. It is important for every person or organization who may have contact with ICE to know that they have the right to (a) remain silent when questioned, (b) have an attorney present during any questioning, and (c) be free of unreasonable search and seizure.

If you have questions about this, or if you want to participate in either or both parts of this new initiative, please email Linda Bronstein (lindadiane275@gmail.com) or Terry Schmitt (terryschmittwh@gmail.com). Thank you!

Taking Photos in Church and Sharing Policy

Taking photos and documenting life events is commonplace now and more and more common in church settings. Lots of members are asking about taking photos at church events and wondering how to share them and to avoid confusion, we came up with some guidelines. Most important: be sure phone is in silent mode and skip solo selfies when tagging church events! Laminated copies of guidelines are at each entrance to the Sanctuary and at auditorium entrance, or view policy here or go to website>Photo Gallery page. Thank you, Amy and Joy.
