From the Pastor’s Desk

Courtney Williams Shares

Pentecost Sunday is always a powerful reminder of the power of the Holy Spirit given to the Church. Worship was a beautiful reflection of the presence of God among us as we gathered once again at First Church. Pastor Scott brought a message reminding us that the same Spirit who came with wind and fire still fills, renews, heals, and sends God’s people today.

Our anointing and healing service was especially meaningful as we heard the prayers of the saints lifted before the Lord, trusting in the God who hears and answers every prayer according to His will and purpose.

This Sunday, I am filling in for Pastor Scott and we will celebrate Trinity Sunday as we continue in our series, Empowered by the Spirit, with the message, “The Community of God,” from Matthew 28:16–20. Trinity Sunday invites us to reflect on the mystery and beauty of God’s nature—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and how we are called to live in relationship with Him and with one another.

Together, we will explore John Wesley’s Three Simple Rules: “Do No Harm, Do Good, and Stay in Love with God,” as practical guide for honoring God through our individual Christian walk and our life together as the Community of God.

Peace,

Courtney

This Trinity Sunday, our music helps us reflect on the mystery and wonder of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We’ll sing familiar hymns like Holy, Holy, Holy and Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise, whose words remind us of God’s holiness, power, and constant presence in our lives. Through these songs, we join together in praise and celebrate the many ways God continues to guide and sustain us.

MDS Weekly Update

End of 2025-2026 School Year

The last week of school is always such a fun and special time for all of our MDS children! Throughout the week, the classrooms were filled with exciting activities, fun games, laughter, and special memories as they celebrated an amazing school year together. To wrap up the week, the children enjoyed a fun Water Day full of smiles and summertime fun!

It has truly been a wonderful year of learning, growing, and building sweet friendships. We are so proud of all our students and thankful for the love and support of our MDS families. This week is all about celebrating the friendships made, the many things learned, and the joyful memories created throughout the year. We ended the 2025-2026 school year with lots of fun and happy hearts!

Our VPK children had a beautiful and memorable Graduation Celebration! The children did an amazing job singing special songs, including one written by Pastor Scott, and proudly recited a sweet graduation poem. They received their graduation certificates and Bibles before celebrating together with a wonderful reception featuring adorable graduation cookies lovingly made by Pam Kennedy.

A very special thank you to the United Methodist Women for providing backpacks filled with all the required Collier County school supplies for each of our graduating children. What a thoughtful and generous blessing for our families as the children prepare for kindergarten!

We are so thankful for a wonderful school year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and love. Thank you to our incredible teachers and supportive parents for guiding and encouraging these children throughout the year. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Methodist Day School Board Members: Karen Bach (Board Chair), Judy Margrey, Thelma Johnson, Gail McKenzie, Tracey Malone, Natasha Norgard, and Cathy Ledbetter for their continued support and love for our school.

We are so proud of our graduates and cannot wait to watch them shine and be successful in kindergarten! Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Altar Flowers

This week's flowers are given by

Reverend Flo Scott in celebration of her one year kidneyversary.

Every week, you can donate altar flowers for our Sunday worship and dedicate them to the memory of someone who was special to you or to honor someone who presently needs recognition! The cost is $40. You can arrange to purchase flowers for a dedication by signing up in the church lobby or by sending an email to Karen in the church office. You can either pick up your flowers after church or donate them to an organization in our community, bringing a ray of sunshine to workers and volunteers.

There are many open dates to donate flowers!

See the signup sheets in the foyer.

Thank you to Bob & Gail MacKenzie for faithfully delivering flowers to Collier County Domestic Animal Services.

Volunteers!

At First United Methodist Church, we invite you to become a cherished part of our vibrant community by volunteering for our Sunday worship services. We are all called into service to God and have unique talents and gifts that can help create a truly special worship experience, as many hands working together bring our services to life. Each week, we have individuals read scriptures, light candles, take up the offering, and greet attendees. Additionally, we hold monthly communion and anointing services, where your support is invaluable. We would be thrilled to have you join our team and contribute to the uplifting moments that connect and inspire our community. Please get in touch with Pastor Scott or Judy Margrey if you would like to be a part of this team.

Come be part of our team of greeters, ushers, acolytes, and scripture readers. Judy Margrey and Tyler Castrillo bring the light of Jesus into the worship service.

Please let us know if you or a loved one is in the hospital so Pastor Scott can visit and pray with you and your family.

We are always in prayer for our church family, those around the world living in poverty, our leaders, and our country. Please join us in prayer.

Your Giving Is a Form of Worship

For your information:

If you are paying through your bank’s online bill pay, your bank writes the checks, which are then mailed to us. If you can make an online contribution directly from your checking or savings account through our website giving link, we can receive the money more quickly than the US mail can deliver it. Also, if you can pay directly from your checking or savings account rather than a credit card, it can help us avoid credit card fees. Between January and December of 2025, the church has had to pay close to $2000 in credit card fees ($1,998.73). We would far rather use this money for ministry than give it to Mastercard or Visa.
