Subject: A Joy That Overflows
Dear Church Family,
Grace and peace to you!
This Sunday, we conclude our Surprised by Joy series with a message titled “Overflowing Joy,” based on John 14:1–14. Bruce McEver will bring us the message this week and I am grateful for his willingness to step in.
Jesus speaks these words to his disciples at a moment when their hearts are troubled. Uncertainty is in the air. The future feels unclear. And yet, right there in the middle of it all, Jesus offers something deeper than circumstances—he offers joy that overflows.
Not a surface-level happiness. Not a fleeting emotion. But a steady, grounded joy that comes from trusting him, knowing him, and following where he leads.
This Sunday, we’ll explore what it means to live with that kind of joy—joy that isn’t dependent on what’s happening around us, but rooted in the promises of Christ. Joy that doesn’t run dry. Joy that overflows into every part of our lives.
As his goes out, I am wearing my Granhappy hat, enjoying some special grandbaby time in Texas, and looking forward to gathering at the Table for Holy Communion, where we are reminded that Christ meets us, fills us, and sends us out again—renewed and rejoicing.
I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we celebrate the joy that Christ gives—a joy that overflows.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Scott

It has a calm, comforting feel and reminds us of the steady care and guidance God gives in every part of life. The message is simple but powerful—no matter what we face, we’re not alone, and our needs are always in good hands. | | |

Volunteers!
At First United Methodist Church, we invite you to become a cherished part of our vibrant community by volunteering for our Sunday worship services. We are all called into service to God and have unique talents and gifts that can help create a truly special worship experience, as many hands working together bring our services to life. Each week, we have individuals read scriptures, light candles, take up the offering, and greet attendees. Additionally, we hold monthly communion and anointing services, where your support is invaluable. We would be thrilled to have you join our team and contribute to the uplifting moments that connect and inspire our community. Please get in touch with Pastor Scott or Judy Margrey if you would like to be a part of this team.
| | Come be part of our team of greeters, ushers, acolytes, and scripture readers. Tyler Castrillo and Judy Margrey bring the light of Jesus into the worship service. | | |
Please let us know if you or a loved one is in the hospital so Pastor Scott can visit and pray with you and your family.
We are always in prayer for our church family, those around the world living in poverty, our leaders, and our country. Please join us in prayer.

For your information:
If you are paying through your bank’s online bill pay, your bank writes the checks, which are then mailed to us. If you can make an online contribution directly from your checking or savings account through our website giving link, we can receive the money more quickly than the US mail can deliver it. Also, if you can pay directly from your checking or savings account rather than a credit card, it can help us avoid credit card fees. Between January and December of 2025, the church has had to pay close to $2000 in credit card fees ($1,998.73). We would far rather use this money for ministry than give it to Mastercard or Visa.
