Christmas in July??
Are you a crafter? Are you looking for something to do this summer? Are there projects that you have been meaning to try? Now is the time. The handcrafts booth at the church fair can use your help. We are looking for handmade items that we can feature on our tables.

Big sellers in the past have been doll clothes for the American girl doll size, table decor from natural materials, unique Christmas ornaments, baby sweaters and hats, handcrafted note cards, adult hats, and unique handmade jewelry. Get out those hooks and needles, dust off the sewing machine and glue gun, dig out those odd balls of yarn.
The fair will be here before you know it and we would love to have all our tables filled with awesome choices. Does anyone make soap? How about knitting or crocheting face cloths that could be paired with the soap? Perhaps you are a painter. Rock paper weights with pretty pictures or inspirational sayings might be your contribution. Not yet inspired? There are many crafting YouTube videos that can help with ideas and directions.

Help us make our handcraft table the place all the visitors to the fair are talking about. Questions? Email Joan Benedetto or Martha Lape.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to weed and help spruce up the Church grounds.

Gathering for 2 hours every other Saturday Next meeting is TOMORROW: August 6 from 9 - 11AM.
Fellowship/Coffee Hour
Coffee hour is a great way to connect, catch up and build our church community. Caring Ministry invites all members of the congregation and their families to join together and host an after service coffee hour in the coming months. Guidelines and assistance will be provided to all hosts. Let’s enjoy reconnecting with our church community. To schedule a coffee hour, please sign up on Board in the parlor or email Jane Brown or by phone at 203-535-9193.
Friendly Visitor Ministry Now Organizing
As we continue to re-engage our congregation in ministry and mission from the harder days of Covid shutdown, we are excited to begin making friendly visits to those homebound members and those in assisted living and rehabilitation centers. A gathering session is planned for Thursday, Sept 22 at 7pm to learn more about this ministry. Let us know of your interest! Speak with Diane Albro, Mary Strauss or Pastor Alison.
Summer Music!
Do you sing? Do you play an instrument? Do you like to make music with others? If you are interested in learning how you can share your musical gifts this summer as part of our music program, please contact music director, Joe D’Eugenio. Everyone has music and a song in their hearts to share. Please be in touch to learn how the music inside you can be expressed to inspire others.

How Come I Don’t Hear Birds?   It’s early August, and those of us who are used to waking up to a lot of bird calls may notice that there’s now a lot less chatter. Not to worry! Many species of birds use midsummer as a kind of “time out” from singing and calling. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, “Birds sing for two basic reasons: to attract a mate and to defend a territory. By July, many baby birds in North America have fledged, and even birds that have multiple nests per year have finished by early August. Some birds may continue singing for a while to help their young learn their local song dialect. But many birds, such as American Robins and Red-winged Blackbirds, stop holding territories and start to join flocks—and territorial singing just isn’t compatible with flocking. One by one, each species drops out of the morning chorus.” The Cornell Lab stresses that just because you can’t hear a lot of birds, that doesn’t mean they have gone elsewhere: “The birds are still there, they’re just keeping a low profile, because they’re replacing their feathers.” This takes energy, and makes them more vulnerable to predators. So continue your birding – regardless of the audio.
