All Hail the King of Peppers!
It's Chile Pepper Day & Lafayette Day
Fall may bring cooler temps, but when it comes to veggies, this is the season that really delivers the HEAT! Yep, Chile peppers are at their prime right now, and love 'em or loathe 'em, they're a great way to spice up your meals, not to mention boost your metabolism, ease joint pain, fight cancer and keep colds and flu at bay! High in antioxidants, hot peppers are loaded with vitamin C, beta carotene, B6, potassium and more. We're not saying you need to brave our infamous “10 Deadly Peppers” Hot Pepper Eating Competition, but you may want to watch these seasoned fire eaters (crazy people?) down some of the world's hottest peppers at 11am in the Crayola Quadrant. And it just so happens to be Lafayette Day in Downtown Easton so look for the Leopard and be sure to check out our vendors' spicy treats and listen to some Latin beats from new band, Rio Bossa!

Cabbage Throw Farm
Try their Recipe for Beet Soup!
Although Cabbage Throw Farm does not have peppers for this year's Chile Pepper Day, they are turning up the heat with beets! This week they are bringing extra bunches of red beets for you to roast, pickle or try in this week's recipe, Beet Soup!
And to top off your soup, Cabbage Throw is bringing a small selection of microgreens, including pea shoots and a farmer mix. Also from the farm this week, various salad greens, napa cabbage, watermelon radishes, cherry tomatoes, sunflowers and more.

Farmer Dean is nervous for the Chile Pepper Contest. His training has included an extra dose of hot sauce on his leftover pizza lunch and bed time habanero treats. Head over to the event to cheer him on through the heat of the contest!
